This HGV Driver (Class 2 / Cat C) role offers an attractive salary ranging from £36,000 to £53,000 per year with permanent, full-time stability. Competitive benefits include company pension, career advancement, and the opportunity for ongoing training—especially valuable if you want to add HIAB certification to your CV.
You’ll be joining a reputable logistics and transportation team where reliability and attention to safety are genuinely valued. This is particularly ideal for those who have worked as Multi-Drop or Delivery Drivers and want career progression and a friendly working atmosphere.
What You Do On The Job
As an HGV Driver, the core of your day involves safely transporting scaffold materials using a 26-tonne vehicle. You carry out meticulous vehicle inspections before each journey.
Your role is hands-on: you regularly use a HIAB crane for safe loading and unloading (with certification provided if you don’t have it). Delivery paperwork must be completed with accuracy, so attention to detail matters here.
Besides driving, you will support general yard operations when not on the road. This involves loading, unloading, stock control, and keeping the yard tidy, displaying teamwork and reliability.
Health and safety are paramount in this environment; you’ll always be expected to comply with safety protocols and company policies during every task. Strong communication and a customer-focused attitude will set you apart.
Pros
A major highlight is the comprehensive training and support you receive, including HIAB certification, which can boost your prospects and future earning potential.
The role offers a competitive salary—which is especially appealing given the security of a permanent, full-time contract. There is also a clear pathway for career progression.
Cons
This job will demand both physical strength and flexibility, given the yard work and manual handling involved, which may not suit everyone.
It also requires strict adherence to health and safety rules and regulatory compliance, so if you prefer a less-structured or autonomous working day, this may be a consideration.
Verdict
If you are a dependable HGV driver with a passion for safety, teamwork, and career growth, this job provides a strong blend of stability, training, and progression. The benefits and opportunities can easily outweigh the challenges for the right individual.
